News & Notes: Kate Fukawa-Connelly selected as new associate director of HPA

Last week, Smith announced that Glenn Cummings, the director of HPA, had suddenly resigned and been replaced by Jess Deutsch ’91, who vacated the Associate Director slot in January that is now being filled by Fukawa-Connelly. After only one month in her new position as the Director of Student Life in Forbes College, Deutsch resigned from that position as well. Deutsch has now returned to HPA as director part-time.

Some premedical students have said that they were displeased by the recent position changes in HPA.

Fukawa-Connelly is currently the Educational Program Coordinator at the University of New Hampshire’s Center for Academic Resources. She specifically works with first-generation and low-income students as part of the Rising Scholars Program. At Brandeis, Fukawa-Connelly held a similar position to the one she will assume as the Assistant Dean for Health Professions Advising. She also served as the Director of the Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Certificate Program at Brandeis.

Smith said that Fukawa-Connelly will visit Princeton several times during the month of April.

Correction: Due to a reporting error, a previous version of this article incorrectly listed the first name of the former director of HPA. Glenn Cummings was the former director who resigned suddenly. The 'Prince' regrets the error.
