Celebration: Got Latkes?
It’s that time of year again! Time for potato pancakes, that is. The annual Hanukkah festival is coming up, and, Jewish or not, this party will be sure to light your candle. The CJL Class of 2015 is hosting a fun Hanukkah party for anyone who wants to take a break from the last week of the semester and dine in on some yummy traditional Jewish snacks. Expect a delectable latke bar and spirited dreidel competition.

Lecture: Steve Martin’s “Stand Up: My Rise and Collapse”
If you don’t already have a ticket to see this famous comedian talk about his career (and make some terrific jokes), there’s still hope! A simulcast will be provided in McCosh 10 for the un-ticketed, and there will be a line before the lecture to snag unclaimed seats. Show up early for a chance to catch the laughs!

Film: Backdraft
The Princeton Student Firefighter Association loves to inspire people whenever it isn’t saving them. It has also been known to keep them entertained. To at least one of those ends PFSA will be screening “Backdraft” on Friday. Featuring Chi-town family struggles, an arsonist, Kurt Russell, Robert De Niro and one of the lesser Baldwins whose name you can never remember, the film should be an inflaming experience.

Concert: American Opera
Indulge your artistic tastes with the Princeton Opera Company and their presentation of “American Opera,” a compilation of three one-act operas: “A Hand of Bridge” by Barber, “Gallantry” by Moore and “The Telephone” by Menotti. At about half an hour each, these operas each rank among the shortest of all regularly performed operas. The event is free and open to the public.

Concert: Princeton University Orchestra
Join Princeton’s premiere classical musicians and their guest conductor, Hobart Earle ’83, at their second concert this year as they tackle Brahms’ Third Symphony, Satie’s Gymnopedies, and Grieg’s incidental music for the Ibsen play “Peer Gynt.”

Audition: Handel Singing Competition
Are you a fan of Handel, and think you have what it takes to perform his compositions with the Princeton University Orchestra? Then sign up to audition in the Handel Singing Competition. Candidates will be expected to perform one Handel aria with an accompanist that they have brought and rehearsed with. Don’t worry if you aren’t exactly a vocalist — the competition is free and open to the public, so stop by to support the performers.
