“It’s an exciting time to join the leadership team at Franklin & Marshall, a college that is engaging in innovative approaches to preparing the nation’s next generation of thinkers and leaders,” Cliatt said in a statement.
Cliatt currently leads essential communications at the University, overseeing its print and online media news content as well as leading media relations and outreach. She was instrumental in the communications and outreach campaigns that stemmed from the University’s $1.75 billion Aspire fundraising campaign and 10-year campus plan. Cass previously wrote for the Daily Herald — Illinois’ third largest newspaper — and also served as deputy director of communications and policy for the clerk’s office of Cook County in Chicago. She graduated from the University with an A.B. in English and a certificate in Spanish and holds an M.S. from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
“Cass’ record of leadership in strategic communications, institutional messaging and project coordination and management make her ideally suited to lead our efforts in communications,” Porterfield said in a statement. “She stood out from an exceptionally strong pool of candidates because of her collaborative style, expertise in leading institutional communications and success in reaching a wide range of constituencies.”
