Web Update: Electricity problems fixed after storm

As of 8 a.m. on Monday morning, Public Safety confirmed that power had been restored to the Stanworth graduate housing complex and that Route 206 had reopened in both directions after services were halted following a storm during the weekend.

"Fortunately, at this time we are not aware of any damage from the weekend storm," University spokesman Martin Mbugua said on Monday evening.

Stanworth residents, who had no electricity from Sunday until Monday morning, were provided overnight shelter and shower facilities at Dillon Gymnasium. Generator power supplied the apartment complex itself with electricity for emergency lighting and hot water.

Travelers to the campus had been notified that they could experience commuting delays on Monday morning because of fallen trees on Route 206 on Sunday. The blockages have since been cleared.
