Wokie Nwabueze was named as the University’s ombuds officer last week, the University announced in a recently distributed press release.
The ombuds office provides the University community with confidential consultations and a space through which to resolve disputes. Methods for problem solving in the ombuds office include mediation; coaching; group facilitation or training; or referrals to other University services, according to the press release.
Prior to coming to the University, Nwabueze spent 10 years working with with Prudential Financial. Her most recent position at the financial firm was as vice president for ethics and employee resolution programs. Before holding this position, Nwabueze served as an independent consultant and trainer for alternative dispute resolution techniques and led workshops for New York City organizations such as universities and correctional institutions.
She has also served as a staff developer, trainer and mediator for Effective Alternative in Reconciliation Services, a youth group based in the Bronx.
Nwabueze received her bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College and her law degree from Columbia University.
