After his decision to not run in the upcoming election, Christie was contacted by Romney, and the two met with their wives to discuss the potential endorsement, according to The New York Times.
“This is somebody who has thought and listened and planned for a good long period of time about what he would do if he was given the honor of being the president of the United States,” Christie said of Romney.
He added that he plans to continue to help the Romney campaign by traveling, fundraising and advising for the former governor. “Mitt Romney is the man we need to lead America,” he said.
Christie had previously defended Romney over the Massachusetts health care plan, saying that any comparisons between it and President Obama’s healthcare plan were “intellectually dishonest.”
