New Jersey Transit temporarily suspended Dinky service this afternoon after the train was involved in a minor accident.

“The train was pulling into the end of the line and for some reason did not stop, and it hit the bumping block,” which is meant to be a buffer at the terminus of the line, NJ Transit spokeswoman Penny Bassett Hackett said.

She added that the train is usually halted by the engineer who operates the vehicle and that NJ Transit was currently investigating the cause of the incident.

The low-speed collision resulted in minor damage to the train, which NJ Transit hopes to return to service late tonight or early Thursday morning, she noted. NJ Transit is currently operating a bus service to carry passengers between Princeton Station and Princeton Junction.
