The Excellence in Teaching Awards for the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences were presented in a ceremony Thursday at the Friend Center.
Seven awards were presented to members of the faculty, three awards were presented to teaching assistants and one lifetime achievement award was presented to Norman Sollenberger Professor in Engineering and Operations Research and Professor of Financial Engineering Erhan Cinlar.
Faculty winners included Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering Branko Glisic, Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering Andrew Houck, lecturer in computer science Robert Dondero, Professor of Computer Science and Public Affairs Edward Felten, lecturer in computer science Donna Gabai, Professor of Electrical Engineering Sanjeev Kulkarni and Donald R. Dixon ’69 and Elizabeth W. Dixon Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Howard Stone.
The teaching assistants honored this year included Vikram Pansare of the chemical and biological engineering department, Arnab Sinha in electrical engineering and Santiago Castrillon in chemical and biological engineering.
The Excellence in Teaching Awards were created in 1988 by undergraduate engineering students who sought to enhance the quality of education at Princeton. Any professor or teaching assistant for an undergraduate engineering, mathematics, physics or related course is eligible to receive an award.
