Richard Just ’01 will become editor-in-chief of The New Republic after owner Martin Peretz officially steps down. Just has been serving as editor since Franklin Foer left last month. Peretz, who has been with The New Republic for almost 37 years, admitted that he hasn't edited the magazine for years and added that "it was my vision and the vision of my compatriots of what was needed for a serious journal of opinion in American society that defined what The New Republic has become since 1974."
Peretz will continue to write a column for The New Republic's website. Just was also editor-in-chief of The Daily Princetonian during his time at the University.
