Pizza Rush

Memories of Frist Campus Center at 3 a.m. on Thursday and Saturday nights can be hazy at best — but not for everyone. This week, Street set out to interview those campus employees who remember those moments that we often don’t.

Q Do you normally work at the C-Store?

No, normally I work downstairs in Frist.

Oh, I bet you have some good late-night stories.

Definitely. My first time working late on Saturday was so much fun.  I had never seen anything like the Frist pizza rush here. Four different people who were trying to steal pizza came up to me and tried to explain why it was okay. Then I looked at the stairs and saw a couple who was making out.  They fell down the stairs and took out like six different people on their way down. They had doctors from McCosh come in and everything, next thing you knew there was an ambulance. There’s nothing like the Thursday or Saturday night here.

In what sense?

Drunk people just do things here that they don’t do in the real world.

Do you ever have people not recognize you ... but you recognize them?

Yeah and I’m like, “Oh my god, you were the one whose shirt was falling off...”

That sounds like a good story.

Actually, I see that all the time.  One time I told someone her skirt was tucked into her underwear – and her friend was like, “Oh my god, isn’t that so funny? I saw that earlier and didn’t say anything.”

Have you ever had students apologize?

One guy threw up in front of me and then the next time I saw him, he apologized to me for 15 minutes.  He didn’t even hit me! Now every Saturday when I see him, he apologizes again. He’s always like, “I’m so sorry, I won’t throw up on you again!” He’s really nice about it.

Do you see people throw up a lot?

Only like three times.  It happens more often in the bathrooms, I think.

If you were a Frist pizza, what would you be?

Spaghetti and meatballs.
