Q: With the Honor Code so well publicized, why did you pick the name The Plagiarists?

A:

Q: How did the band come together?

A: Alex Cousins: Freshman year, I got together with a few friends from Forbes to play together in the practice room there. One of us had a friend in Whitman, Colleen Judge '11, who played the cello, and we found Hannah as our drummer. And it's grown from there. We now have 10 members that we play with - or at least practice with.

Q: What were your musical experiences before joining the band?

A: Hannah Valdez: I played in rock and Metallica cover bands, so I come from more of a grungier background.

Ryan Dahn: I play in the orchestra, but I'd never really done anything like this.

Q: What kinds of songs do you typically put into your sets?

A: AC: We play The Beatles, but we also play Fountains of Wayne and, particularly, The Killers. I've developed a bit of a sixth sense for what works, and that's usually songs from the '90s. People can say, "I remember that song from third grade!"

Q: How do you fit into the campus music scene?

A: AC: Musically, I think our niche is '90s cover songs. That's what people know us for.

HV: Aside from just the music, I think we're the only band on campus that still has its original membership. We're all in the same class year, we're all going to graduate in the same year, and I don't think that our name will get recycled with new members after we leave.

Q: Where will you be playing in the upcoming weeks?

A: SB: We're playing at FristFest next week and at Cap on Dean's Date. And Maybe Charter and Cottage during reading period.

RD: Sometimes the eating clubs can be a bit finicky when it comes to booking, but for the most part, they're excited to get live bands.
