The Nominees:
Penelope Cruz: "Nine"
Vera Farmiga: "Up in the Air"
Maggie Gyllenhaal: "Crazy Heart"
Anna Kendrick: "Up in the Air"
Mo'Nique: "Precious"
WHO SHOULD WIN:
Raj Ranade: Kim Ok-Vin in "Thirst"
Transforming from nerdy loner into sociopathic vampire, Kim is thoroughly convincing in each step of her unlikely journey, and way sexier than the cheeseball bloodsuckers in "Twilight."
Adam Tanaka: Vera Farmiga
It takes talent to out-smarm Mr. Smarmy himself, but Vera Farmiga more than held her own opposite Clooney's blinding-star wattage. She was the heart and soul of "Up in the Air," and I look forward to seeing her in more roles in the future.
Mike Vinson: Marion Cotillard in "Nine" and "Public Enemies"

Cotillard gave two of the most wrenching performances this year, depicting a devoted gangster moll and a long-suffering wife to a lothario. How does she get snubbed when squirrel-girl Anna Kendrick can get in?
Sean Wu: Mo'Nique
A supporting actor or actress has to have a really powerful effect on a movie in a minor role, and no one did that better this year than Mo'Nique.
WHO WILL WIN: Mo'Nique
Mo'Nique is very, very good in "Precious," especially for someone who's never been in a dramatic role before. (-RR)
