Tarantino's writing is hard for actors to pull off, because it's a very artificial, alternate universe kind of thing, but Waltz played it beautifully.

Adam Tanaka: Christoph Waltz

"Inglourious Basterds" was reassuring proof that Tarantino can still make edgy, thought-provoking movies, but the whole thing was swiped from under his nose - and everyone else's - by an obscure Austrian stage actor.  Chritoph Waltz was a revelation.

This has to go to Christoph Waltz - he was what made this film captivating, and I can't imagine anyone else being able to pull off the role. He was dynamite.
