The Nominees:
Jeff Bridges: "Crazy Heart"
George Clooney: "Up in the Air"
Colin Firth: "A Single Man"
Morgan Freeman: "Invictus"
Jeremy Renner: "The Hurt Locker"
WHO SHOULD WIN:
Raj Ranade: Nicolas Cage in "Bad Lieutenant"
I've got to put this out there. The best performance of the year by far wasn't even nominated: Nicolas Cage in "Bad Lieutenant!" There's an art to being crazy and over the top. A lot of the time Nicolas Cage is self-parody, but in this movie, he's positively operatic.
Adam Tanaka: Colin Firth
Colin Firth gave a heartrending performance. It was nice to see that he was more than just the poor man's Hugh Grant. I'm disappointed this movie wasn't nominated for best picture - I thought it was extremely moving and ravishingly beautiful.
Mike Vinson: Jeff Bridges

The Dude may just be playing a country singer version of The Dude, but there's no one who could play The Dude quite like The Dude.
Sean Wu: Jeff Bridges
With five Oscar nominations under his belt, Jeff Bridges is no newcomer to the Academy Awards. Yet, he is still missing an actor's highest honor. This career and his transcending performance in "Crazy Heart" is simply too great for the Academy to ignore.
WHO WILL WIN: "Jeff Bridges"
Jeff Bridges is a guy who hasn't given a bad performance in the past 15, 20 years. He absolutely deserves an Oscar. (-RR)
