Triple Threat

Jacob Kosior '10 is a politics major from Indianapolis, Ind. Though Kosior performs with BodyHype, he has never appeared in musical theater - until this weekend, when he will star in Triangle Club's new production, "Store Trek," in a role created specifically for his talents.

Q: Considering that you have no background in musical theater, what inspired you to join Triangle this year?

A: I've been in BodyHype since freshman year, so dance has always been something I was interested in. And then I always liked to sing - I don't know how good I am at singing, but I was always interested in singing and acting. I've been thinking about doing Triangle for two or three years until finally my friends just pushed me over the edge and got me to audition. I thought, this is my last opportunity to do it, so why not go for it?

Q: Tell us about your character in "Store Trek." What talents of yours show through in this role?

A: I play an evil board member, but all I really want to do is sing and dance. It was nice to play a character where I get to show off my dance skills a little bit - and there are some crazy hijinks that happen with my character and kind of a surprise ending.

Q: What were some of the challenges you ran into this year in Triangle?

A: I think the biggest challenge for me has been combining singing and dancing because I've been used to dancing for a while now and keeping counts and everything, but trying to sing your part in the song instead of just singing the melody has been a challenge.

Q: Tell us your insider perspective on the differences between BodyHype and Triangle.

A: I think that BodyHype is a more social organization, and I think that's why I've stuck with it year after year: It's really become my family on campus. Triangle, on the other hand, is a more professional production. So they both have their strengths.

Q: Any funny stories?

A: I thought BodyHype was crazy, and then I went to a Triangle party.
