Zachary Beecher has been elected president of the Class of 2013, USG senior elections manager Addie Darling ’12 said in an e-mail to the freshman class on Friday afternoon.
Beecher defeated runoff opponent Anthony Pappenfus by a 291-235 vote.
For his campaign, Beecher prepared a roster of three main issues to pursue as class president.
“I'm committed to serving the community at home and abroad, class unity, and having one hell of a good time,” he said in an e-mail to The Daily Princetonian. Beecher added that he hopes to raise awareness about the genocide in Darfur and help fight poverty in the inner city with the members of the Class of 2013.
Beecher said he had the “experience, passion, and charisma” to be president, citing his three years of experience as student body president at his high school in Randolph, N.J.
The newly elected president said he hopes to interact with the freshman class on a personal level. “Together we can have an amazing time while making a difference in our world,” he said in an e-mail. “Who said you can't try and save the world while having a good time?”
In the revote for class vice president, Gabrielle Cole and Stefan Kende will head to a runoff after finishing on top of a seven-person race with 106 votes and 96 votes, respectively.
The runoff between Cole and Kende will take place from Nov. 9 to Nov. 11.
The revote was scheduled after Darling misspelled the e-mail addresses of vice presidential candidates Jamie Joseph and Jon Hezghia, neither of whom received campaign-related e-mails in the week before the initial vote. Darling announced she would resign at the end of this elections cycle.
In that vice presidential race, Devon Chen was third with 87 votes. Joseph was fourth with 77, Raymond Wu was fifth with 65, Danielle Pingue was sixth with 57, and Hezghia was seventh with 36.
In the runoff for class treasurer, Hanna Tian defeated Benjamin Chan by a 273-232 vote.
During last week's initial vote, Alice Su ran unopposed for class secretary. Cameron Hough defeated Britt Sanders by a 313-210 vote to become Class of 2013 social chair.

Freshmen will vote again for class officers at the end of the year, during the general USG elections. That vote will determine who will serve as class officers during the 2010-11 academic year.
