In addition to Torney, fraternity members Adriano DiDonato and Dominic Olsen were charged with aggravated hazing in connection with the incident. DiDonato and Olsen settled through a pre-trial intervention program; they were fined $125 each and sentenced to alcohol counseling and 100 hours of community service.
Torney’s guilty plea resulted in the dismissal of the aggravated hazing charge. In addition to the probation, Torney must perform 100 hours of community service, refrain from drinking alcohol and undergo alcohol counseling. Torney also settled a civil suit filed by the DeVercelly family and paid $150,000.
