USG president Josh Weinstein ’09 has apologized for indicating that unopposed USG presidential candidate Connor Diemand-Yauman ’10 supports Michael Weinberg ’11 for USG vice president.
“I'd like to apologize for implying that, because Connor asked Mike to be on a ticket with him, that he supports him in the Vice Presidential race — Connor is impartial,” Weinstein said in an e-mail sent Sunday morning to many of Weinstein’s supporters from his own campaign.
The clarification e-mail was sent at the request of senior elections manager Braeden Kepner-Kraus ’10, Weinstein explained in a follow-up e-mail to The Daily Princetonian. The clarification follows Weinstein’s original endorsement of Weinberg in an e-mail sent Friday at 1 a.m., in which Weinstein said that “Connor initially asked Mike to be on a ticket with him, but has decided to remain impartial publicly, because he is unopposed.”
Diemand-Yauman, however, noted in a statement early Friday morning that “Josh’s e-mail was sent without my consultation or my approval. To be clear — I do not endorse Mike Weinberg.”
The e-mail sent Sunday morning goes on to indicate that Weinstein has not changed his stance on the vice presidential race.
“I would like to offer my absolute support for Mike Weinberg for USG Vice President,” Weinstein said. “Although Connor will bring an immense amount of energy and leadership, Mike will bring the know-how to connect vision and mission.”
Web error delays voting
An error in the online ballot that prevented voters from selecting a candidate for USG Academics Chair kept voters from being able to submit their choices for roughly the first hour of voting.
Shortly thereafter, the voting website was temporarily taken down, with a note that it would be available at 1:45. Voting, which was scheduled to run from noon Sunday until noon Tuesday, resumed at around 2 p.m.
In an e-mail to the student body shortly after 2 p.m. Weinstein said, "Sorry for the delay, voting is now up for all class years."
More to come…
