Singh, the chief executive of Fine Painting, pleaded guilty to one count of commercial bribery, The Times of Trenton reported. He admitted that he pledged money to a Lewis project construction manager in spring 2005 to help him get a contract.

Singh and the construction manager drew up a contract for Singh’s company to do painting work. In September 2005, one of Singh’s employees bribed the construction manager with $2,500 in cash to ask for future help in getting contracts with the manager’s company, according to the Trenton Times.

Singh is awaiting his sentence. Four of the other five defendants have been sentenced.

Jay Armand was sentenced to one month in federal prison and a $10,000 fine for paying a construction manager in exchange for a contract. Jack Macedo was sentenced to 15 months in prison with a $15,000 fine, while his wife Cathleen Macedo received four years of probation and a $10,000 fine. Richard Tortorelli was sentenced to four months in federal prison, three years of supervised release and a $20,000 fine. The sixth defendant, Bruce Begg, is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 6.
