Farmer to speak at Baccalaureate

Medical anthropologist Paul Farmer will deliver the Baccalaureate Address during graduation weekend in June, Class of 2008 president Tom Haine announced today in an email.

Farmer, a professor at Harvard Medical School, "is a man of great moral force and inspiration," the senior class officers wrote. He is a founder of Partners in Health, a nonprofit dedicated to providing health care for the poor in the United States, Haiti, Peru, Rwanda and elsewhere.

He will deliver the address on Sunday, June 1, in the University Chapel.

Baccalaureate is an interfaith worship service that includes readings from various religious traditions and an invited speaker who traditionally offers advice to the graduating class.
