Alternative rock band Everclear will headline the fall Lawnparties concert on Sept. 23.
The five-member band began recording in a Portland, Ore., basement 15 years ago and has been compared to Nirvana because of its frequent references to drugs. It enjoyed a string of hits throughout the 1990s, including the Grammy-nominated 1997 album "So Much for the Afterglow."

Its most recent album — 2006's "Welcome to the Drama Club" — is the first to have been released after the band reorganized in 2004.
The fall Lawnparties concert, which last year featured pop-reggae singer Rihanna, is the first major campus-wide social program of the year.
