The University admitted 1,791 of the 18,891 applicants for the Class of 2011, achieving a record low acceptance rate of 9.5 percent.
Of the 16,605 applicants who applied regular decision, 1,194 were accepted to join the 597 students who were admitted during the Early Decision round in December. This is the final class to include students admitted by Early Decision.
Both the regular and early decision acceptance rates — 7.2 and 26 percent, respectively — fell slightly from last year's figures of 7.8 and 27 percent.
As the University continues expanding the size of the undergraduate student body, the Admission Office has anticipated that 69.5 percent of the accepted students will enroll, yielding a freshman class of 1,245. This is 25 more students than the current freshman and sophomore classes, which both have about 1,220 students.
