Following first-round sign-ins last week, Colonial and Terrace clubs filled, Charter improved significantly on its performance from the past three years, Cloister Inn saw a small gain in members and and Quadrangle Club suffered a sharp decline from last year. In total, 389 students joined the five non-selective eating clubs.

This year, sign-ins were conducted online for the first time. Sophomores ranked their choices on the Princeton Prospect Foundation (PPF) website.

Interclub Council graduate adviser Tim Prugar '06 provided sign-in numbers for all five clubs.

At Terrace, 109 new members signed in, filling the club in the first round for the third year in a row, president Max Miller '08 confirmed.

Colonial filled in the first round for the fifth consecutive year, welcoming 115 new members. "I'm glad all the sophomores signed in in the numbers that they did," club president Tommy Curry '08 said.

"It's a pretty standard year for us, and that's good, considering the past week's events," he added, referring to a sprinkler leak that caused flooding in Colonial's clubhouse and forced the building to close for at least the next week.

Seventy students chose Charter in first-round sign-ins. Club president Will Scharf '08 said Charter expects to fill after the second round.

"We're very happy with the new members we have coming in," Scharf said, noting that the number of sophomores who signed in this year is the most since 2004.

Though Charter has not released its sign-in statistics for the last three years, it has had room for new members during second-round sign-ins for the past two years.

Cloister Inn had 50 new members sign in, a slight increase from the 40 it welcomed last year. Club president Savannah Sachs '08 declined to comment.

Forty-five sophomores signed into Quadrangle Club, a notable decline from the last two years. The club had about 70 new members join last year and filled the year before, though it did not release the number of new members. Officers were unavailable for comment.

As the numbers for the sign-in clubs rolled in last night, Bicker began for the five selective eating clubs. Sophomores had to submit their bicker choice online by midnight Wednesday.

The PPF website also allows bickering students to rank their sign-in choices for second-round sign-ins. The site advises students who bicker that "more than 30 percent of bickerees get hosed, so having a backup plan is wise."

"Ranking the sign-in clubs will ensure that, in the event you get hosed, you are placed in a sign-in club before the end of the first week of classes," the site adds.

The original version of this article mischaracterized the change in Cloister Inn's sign-in numbers. The Daily Princetonian regrets the error.
