Senior Greg Haislip is a starter on the epee squad of the men's fencing team.
What was your 'welcome to college' moment?
Fall of freshman year, I visited Penn with two of my best friends, Josh and Brian. After spending the evening partying there, we missed the last train back to Princeton and spent the night in a Philadelphia train station. We chilled with the bums and ate chicken nuggets until we couldn't think; Brian booted them all up into a urinal. It was awesome.
What's your greatest sports highlight?
I went undefeated at the IFA championships freshman year. Because of that I got to carry the trophy back to where it belongs: our gym.
Who is your quirkiest teammate? Why?
[Senior epee] Erin McGarry. Honestly, there really aren't words to describe her insanity correctly. If you've met her, you know what I mean.
Most embarrassing moment?
I don't embarrass easily. People tend to tell me about outrageous things that I do, but I can't say that it ever bothers me. I figure we should all just throw it out there and go with it.
Best part about being an athlete on campus?
Looking good when you take off your shirt.
Hardest part about being an athlete on campus?
Practice at 4: 30 p.m. seriously gets in the way of trying to fit in 18 when the student rates at Springdale start at $3.
Favorite thing to do when not practicing?
Drink heavily with the guys. Am I allowed to say that?
Other sport you would play, if not fencing?
Volleyball. Beach volleyball. Those girls are ridiculously hot. If any of them are reading this, hell, it's true; call me.
If you were a coach for a day, you would......?
Change the time of practice to the morning, circa 10 a.m.
Favorite class?
CLA 219: History of the Roman Empire. The Romans were awesome, especially their crazy emperors. They really knew how to do things back then with the gladiatorial combat.
Favorite thing to do on the Street?
Dominate people at Beirut — with water, of course, so as to in no way violate RRR, I swear.
Who on your team has the most game off the field?
Me. And Me. Oh wait, am I supposed to be modest here?
What is that crazy glass box next to Jadwin?
It's a viewing box where we get to see architects in their natural habitat.
