A power outage covering most of the University and parts of the surrounding town thrust the campus into temporary darkness last night.
A Public Safety official said that the outage was likely caused by inclement weather. The blackout began at 8:20 p.m. as thunder rolled through the area and lasted around 30 minutes.
While most of the lower campus remained dark, parts of Mathey college remained illuminated, including Campbell, Joline and Hamilton halls, according to students contacted by The Daily Princetonian.
The blackout was one of several that have occured in the past year, most of which have affected campus but not the surrounding area. In each case, officials said inclement weather was the likely cause.
It remains unclear why the University was affected in those cases, but not the rest of Princeton.
