'Tiger Talk'

This week, with Oscar buzz in the air, Cathy Yan '08 asks, "Who would play you in the movie version of your life?" After many awkward silences, "I dunnos" and "what do you means?" we managed to find some interesting responses.

Mike Bauer GS, CEE 262 preceptor

"Tom Cruise ... [5 minutes later] ... because Scientology is great."

Phoebe Elder '06

"Reese Witherspoon.I want her husband and her Golden Globe."

Jennifer Sherwood '08

"I would pick Chewbacca because I think he resembles me in a lot of ways: big and scary and hairy."

What should have been a simple answer turned into Adam's search for his celebrity twin that spanned two days. Here's an excerpt of the conversation:

Adam:

"Um ... [looks up Google Images on computer] ... this is the guy who is the star of 'The Guardian.' "

Tiger Talk:

" 'The Guardian'?"

AG:

"It's a TV show from a long time ago. Someone once told me I look like him."

TT:

"Ah you do! Simon Baker!"

AG:

"If I could grow facial hair and get a five o'clock shadow, which I can't do, I would really look like this guy."

Adam seemed to have forgotten that the question was which celebrity he would like to play him and not which celebrity he resembled. Thus, after much deliberation, Adam sends an email the following day:

AG:

"So I realized that although there's a more striking resemblance between Simon Baker and me, when I grow up I want to be Owen Wilson."
