Rep. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) is said to be Governor-elect Jon Corzine's pick to replace him in the U.S. Senate, The New York Times reported Wednesday, citing sources close to Menendez.
The news ends months of speculation, which included aggressive lobbying by six of New Jersey's seven Democartic congressman. Rep. Rush Holt (D-N.J.), Princeton's represenative in Congress and a former director of the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, had expressed an interest in the Senate post.
