Beautiful models wearing the hottest designer clothing strolled down the runway Friday night.
While the scene could have passed for Paris or Milan, it all took place on the Frist South Lawn at Operation Style, an annual charity fashion show. This was the fourth year the fashion show took place on campus.
The event raised roughly $9,000 for Operation Smile, an organization that funds oral surgery for children with cleft palettes and lips, production chair Julia Shneyderman '07 said.
"They stressed to the models that this was a charity fashion show," said Marion Aouad '07, who modeled in the show.
With each operation costing $750, the event bought 10 to 15 smiles, said sponsorship chair Dara Deshe '07. Operation Smile has supplied 90,000 free surgeries for children to date.
"The event was high-energy and a lot of fun," said Deshe, who worked since last October to contact designers willing to donate clothing for the event.
The fashion show featured top designers, including Diane Von Furstenberg, J. McLaughlin, Honey West and Nico Adrian.
"Nico Adrian is a cutting edge, innovative designer from NYC," Shneyderman said.
The show also included student designers Sarah Karam '07, Kerry Saretsky '05, Teddy Van Beuren '05, Jocelyn Miller '08 and Jordan Wagenseller '06.
"The fashion show brings together diverse, talented students from all areas of campus," Shneyderman said.
Student groups performed at the fashion show as well, including Naacho, Sympoh, BodyHype and the Footnotes.
Deshe and Robert Wai Wong '06 co-hosted the show.

The fashion show raised money by selling "Service in Style" t-shirts, runway seats and raffle tickets.
Prizes that were raffled off included a Tivo with six months of service, an iPod mini with accessories and gift certificates to various restauarants.
Nonso Maduka '07 said he was impressed by how well the fashion show was done.
"The models did a really great job," Maduka said. "They all looked really hot."
Deshe estimated that 1,400 people attended the event.
"It was packed," Shneyderman said. "There were 600 chairs and people standing outside the tent too."
Operation Style will have a table at Communiversity on Saturday to continue to raise money through a silent auction, Shneyderman said.
