Kimberly Woods '05 is used to standing out for both her Ivy League academic prowess and her camera-worthy looks.
"A lot of times when I go places to model I get the whole, 'Oh wow, beauty and brains' thing," said the soft-spoken neuroscience major.
Her pictures appeared online last week as part of a Maxim photo contest called "Hometown Hotties," which features 100 women each week for 10 weeks before Maxim readers choose 10 models to become semifinalists.
Woods will find out the results of the competition in the coming week.
The annual Maxim contest has become something of a fixation with Woods, who entered the competition this year for the third time. "It's been kind of a tradition, I guess," she said.
Last year, Vail Bloom '04 became a celebrity after placing third in the contest.
Woods has modeled since the age of 15, but she has cut back on her modeling commitments while studying at Princeton.
Though she still ventures into Philadelphia and New York City occasionally for photo shoots, she notes, "It's not as much as when I was in high school."
In addition, she has taken advantage of several modeling opportunities on campus. Most recently, she walked the runway at the Operation Style fashion show Friday, and she has also modeled in several International Festival fashion shows.
Woods currently has plans to expand her resume to include her passion for acting. She intends to move to Los Angeles this summer to "hopefully work with a casting director."
Woods credits her friends for being "very supportive" of her and her work. "A lot of them have asked how they can get involved [in the modeling industy]," she said.
Kristen Carlin '05, a good friend and hall-mate of Woods, said, "What's great about [Woods] is that she's really balanced. She's really smart with academics and she's also really into acting and modeling."
"She's also a great friend," Carlin said. "She's as cute on the inside as she is on the outside."
