Singer-songwriter Ben Folds will be rocking Princeton's campus April 22 at the sixth annual USG Spring Concert, the USG confirmed Monday.
A few students discovered the news Sunday on the website of Filomath, which will open for Ben Folds at the event.
It soon spread by word of mouth and was sent to the email list for Tower Club.
The USG has not officially announced the concert because the contract has yet to be finalized, USG Social Chair Dan Pugliese '06 said.
He said Ben Folds would have been able to withdraw if the concert had been publicized prior to the signing of the contract because the bands and the University had agreed that the information would not be publicized before the event.
"We did not want to violate our end of the agreement, just as we would not want the bands to violate their end of the agreement," Pugliese said. "It would be unprofessional to do so."
After learning that New York-based band Filomath posted the April 22 concert at Princeton on its site, Pugliese called Filomath and its booking agent on Sunday to ask the band to remove the show from its list of upcoming events.
The concert date at Princeton was gone by early afternoon.
Ben Folds tour coordinator Debbie Tyrone said Ben Folds has no connection to Filomath other than approving that they open for him.
"[We] kind of approve it, and that's it," she said. "We certainly don't have it on [BenFolds.com]."
