Men's, women's track win Saturday meets

The women's track team hosted St. John's and Rutgers at Jadwin Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. Despite early-season times and performances, the Tigers' 149 points were enough to topple Rutgers and St. Johns with 114 and 89 points, respectively.

Freshman Claire Filloux kicked the meet off to a good start for the Tigers, pulling away midway through her race from Sarah Peterson of Rutgers to win the 5,000-meter run in 17:55.61.

The domination of the mid-distance and distance events continued as sophomore Catha Mullen followed Peterson's win with a first-place finish of her own in the mile and twin sister Caroline Mullen's in the 3,000m run.

Senior Caitlin Tormey then just edged out Alexis Grey of Rutgers in the 1,000m. Freshman Liz Bergold led a Tiger sweep of the the 800m run in 2:20.28. Juniors Lindsay Cole and Diane Heiser rounded out the top three. The team of freshman Karen Aherne, freshman Avigail Kifer, junior Suzanne Andrews and Catha Mullen ran to an unopposed victory in the 4x800m relay.

The field events were going Princeton's way as well. Senior Brooke Minor took the high jump with a height of 5'5" while Courtney Regan owned the pole on her way to a vault of 10'11 3/4".

Sprinting events were not Princeton's strong suit on Saturday, as it was unable to capture any victories. Seniors Leslie Warren and Chanel Lattimer did, however, run to second and third in the 400m dash.

The men's team had a strong showing of their own while visiting Navy. Wins in the 400m and 5000m helped lead the Tigers to a 98.5-81.5 victory.

Both the men's and women's teams will host the Princeton Relays January 22 in Jadwin.
