Four sophomores are running for USG vice president: Will Benjamin, Jesse Creed, Freddy Flaxman and Liz Gough. All of them have experience in student government, but one's ideas stand out for their range and completeness. We recommend Jesse Creed for the position.
Creed offers achievable goals and knowledge of the USG, administration and student body with his firm sense of what is achievable. While he shares many of the same platform issues with the other candidates, including mail service reform, expansion of the Princeton ambassador program and effective response to the administration's recent grade inflation policies, he also presents unique ideas, such as a trial period for a legal downloading music service similar to those at the University of Pennsylvania and other schools. Though ideas like this aren't the most pressing issues students face, they show an ability to look at solutions from other campuses and apply them here. He has also worked to increase support for minorities, especially LGBT students.
Benjamin offers another good choice, having taken personal initiative to identify and find solutions to student problems. But he is less sensitive to the kinds of social divisions that affect the campus.
Gough has a strong interest in building closer community, but her achievements do not stack up to Creed's and Benjamin's. Flaxman made a splash with the Jadwin Jungle before joining USG, but his achievements since are not on the same level.
