Schmidt is Ivy Player of Week

Junior midfield Hillary Schmidt was named Ivy Player of the Week for her contributions in last week's Harvard game. Finding themselves a goal down in the closing moments of the game, Schmidt helped get the team back on track with an assist on the tying goal with a pass on a penalty corner situation. Then, with three minutes left in the game, Schmidt found the net, stealing the win from the Crimson.

So far this season, Schmidt has tallied four goals and one assist. Field hockey talent seems to run in the family, as Schmidt's younger sister Paige has earned the Ivy League Rookie of the Week award twice.

Gaudiel is Goalie of the Week

Junior goalie Roxanne Gaudiel was named ECAC women's goaltender of the week, thanks to her fantastic perfomance last weekend during a Providence doubleheader. On Saturday, Gaudiel saved 27 of 31 shots, helping the Tigers keep their 4-4 tie. The following night, Gaudiel continued her solid performance helping Princeton to a 4-1 win.

Gaudiel, who hails from Venice, Fla., appeared in eight games for the Tigers last season, posting a 4-1-0 record. In those games, Gaudiel had a .908 save percentage. With Megan van Beusekom '04 now graduated, the Tigers will count on Gaudiel to backstop the Princeton defense more often this year.
