Robertson lawsuit is a waste of everybody's time
Regarding 'Robertson lawsuit most expensive in U. history' (Nov. 19):The Robertsons' lawsuit is no more ridiculous than if the descendants of John Harvard were to ask for their ancestor's library and estate back because Harvard is no longer training young Christian white men in a Puritan philosophy. If the Robertsons want the money used for the same circumstances in which it was given, it will require nothing short of a time machine. For example, the money was given in the 1960s, when women were not allowed at Princeton University. Is Princeton therefore in breach of the original agreement because it has allowed women to leave the kitchen and pursue an education in public policy? Furthermore, Wilson School graduates such as Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist '74, New York Attorney Elliot Spitzer '83, or Director of the Office of Management and Budget Joshua Bolten '76, whose commitment to public service only an idiot would question, have in fact dared to hold jobs in the private sector.
Would Mr. Robertson, who does not work for a living and plays golf in Coral Gables, Fla., like to march down to Washington or up to Albany to ask these men to refund their Princeton tuitions directly to charities that will put his name on the door instead of his father's?
The only people who could have answered whether Marie and Charles Robertson's money is being spent as they intended are Marie and Charles themselves. Based on the arrangement they set up, they trusted Princeton more than their own son. I couldn't agree with them more. Zachary Goldstein '05
Alumnus should receive harsher sentence
Regarding 'Alumnus admits smuggling Iraqi artifacts' (Nov. 24):Braude should have gotten time in prison. He was let off too easy. Dr. Thomas Strasser CSU Sacramento
