Korean television show filmed on campus

Greenstaff Inc. of New York City taped an episode of the Korean television series "Sad Serenade," a love story partly based in Princeton, on Nov. 7.

Lauren Robinson-Brown '85, director of communications at the University, said in an email that the production takes place in Korea, on the University campus and in New York and that one of the lead characters is supposed to be a freshman at the University.

Josh Polster '05, was selected as an extra for the soap opera. Polster said there was a football theme involved, featuring a Korean student who is a football player for the University.

The football scenes were taped at Princeton High School, and others were set in McCosh 50, Polster added. He said he was told that the Korean actors he was involved with were parallels to Jennifer Lopez and Colin Farrell in their home country.

Robinson-Brown said the University was supportive of the script. It portrayed Princeton in a positive fashion, and the University respected the creative genius of the writers, she said.

The University usually reviews scripts before allowing film crews on campus.

She added that the University has an interest in Korean television viewers recognizing that Princeton is an option for foreign students.
