News and Notes

This Saturday, the women's cross country team will compete at the Princeton Battlefield for the last time. The team has been racing there since 1992 when current head coach Peter Farrell designed the course.

The New Jersey State Department of Parks and Recreation feel that it is inappropriate to use the park for competitions because of its historical significance. Both Farrell and the University fought to keep the course open to racing, but in the end the parks department prevailed.

"I feel that it is an appropriate use of the park to honor the dead with a competition between the three oldest universities in the country," Farrell said.

The final meet, which begins at 11 a.m., is a tri-meet between Princeton, Harvard and Yale. The Tigers were victorious in last year's H-Y-P meet.
