Public Safety and Borough Police reported Sunday that two assaults had occurred in the immediate vicinities of Colonial and Tower clubs Saturday night.
In its Sunday police blotter, Public Safety reported that a University student had been assaulted at Tower Club on Saturday night.
Further investigation by Public Safety revealed that the conflict was between a bouncer and student member of the club.
"At first, the University student had reported that he had been assaulted by a non-student," said Duncan Harrison, acting associate director of operations for Public Safety. "An investigation into the incident, however, showed that the conflict had actually been between the University student and a Tower Club bouncer. Disorderly persons charges against the student are pending."
The second incident occurred in front of Notestein Hall — home of the writing center and formerly Cannon Club — and involved a non-student.
A Colonial Club staff member reported a fight in progress across the street from the club, according to the police report.
"The event happened on Prospect Avenue on Saturday night. The student involved sustained minor injuries, and the parties involved were transported to the Princeton Medical Center for treatment following apprehension," Harrison said.
He said incidents involving members from outside the University community are not new occurrences.
"We all want to provide a safe environment for all students" he said. "Sometimes, you get a few kids who maybe aren't students themselves, or who don't care about the safety of their peers. It's hard to regulate things like that because one person can infringe on the safety of a large group of University students."
Public Safety would not release the identities of those involved in the incidents until it concluded its investigation.
Representatives from Tower and Colonial were not available for comment.
