Crystal Tiger committee to add undergraduate input

Editor's Note: Last Thursday, the 'Prince' argued the Crystal Tiger Award couldn't claim to be from the undergraduates because only a committee of three undergraduates had input in choosing its recipient.

Regarding: Whose Award? (Feb. 19):

To have created expectations about an award program that we did not even know was viable and then fail to meet those expectations would have undoubtedly been damaging to any confidence students had in the Crystal Tiger Award program's future.

So, instead, we operated without expectations, with nothing to lose, in the fairest manner possible, because we believed wholeheartedly in the potential of this award program to benefit campus life and the educational experience of Princeton undergraduates for years to come.

To be clear, it was always our intention — in the event that one day our not-bad idea was to become an exciting, new reality — to incorporate the undergraduate student body into the nomination and selection process. We will now begin discussions about how exactly to go about incorporating the entire undergraduate student body at large, whether that occurs by expanding committee membership, accepting award nominations or holding an open forum.
