Triangle to perform fall show 'For Love or Funny'

This weekend the University Triangle Club will celebrate its 113th anniversary as it performs this year's fall show, "For Love or Funny," at McCarter Theatre. In addition, Triangle has also assembled an exhibit to commemorate its distinguished alumnus, Clark Gesner '60, who passed away in August 2002.

Gesner wrote, composed, conducted and performed in four Triangle productions as a University student. He went on to create the musical "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown."

The exhibit is entitled "Happiness Is . . . An Exhibit Honoring Clark Gesner '60" and will be on display in Frist Campus Center's main gallery through Nov. 16.

"This exhibit really shows how extensive Triangle's history is and how well known the club is," said Triangle Club's public relations chair Megan McGowan.

Gesner is only one of the fascinating personalities to pass through Triangle in over a century of laughs and artistic talent — other club alums include F. Scott Fitzgerald '17 and Brooke Shields '87.

And this year's Triangle cast hopes "Love or Funny" will be one of the most exciting shows yet.

"We have a lot of new freshmen this year and they're really good," McGowan said of the coming show. "The [Triangle Club] trustees say this is the best show in years."

Tickets to "For Love or Funny" can be purchased online, at Frist, or at the McCarter Theatre Box Office. Tickets are $7.50 for students, $20-$30 for general admission and free with Passport to the Arts passes.
