East Pyne, Marquand projects complete, others continue

In order to ensure no building becomes outdated, the University each year starts several construction projects on various buildings around campus and usually completes those projects in the late summer. Some of the buildings completed recently include East Pyne, the 'ellipse' dormitory on Poe Field and the Marquand Art Library.

The Marquand Art Library project involved adding a penthouse addition of seminar rooms and study carrels.

The two-year construction on East Pyne recently finished as well, allowing the French and Italian departments to return from the 'Prince's'current home, Dillon Court West.

Added to the building are a new 71-seat auditorium, classrooms and a language laboratory.

Still under construction is the dormitory on the western edge of Poe Field. Known as the 'ellipse' dormitory and being built to accomodate over 200 beds and a few common rooms, it is being developed for the future Wythes Plan student increase.
