Athlete of the Week: Sharla Cloutier

For the last two seasons, Avery Kiser has consistently been the top finisher for the women's golf team. Well, head coach Eric Stein might have finally found the right person to compete with Kiser — freshman Sharla Cloutier. Cloutier, from Niceville, Fla., won the Princeton Invitational this weekend at Springdale Golf Club.

Cloutier shot an opening round 74 on the par-72 course, setting her up two shots behind Kiser heading into the second and final day. She followed with a 77 while Kiser shot an 80 to win the title by one stroke.

Thanks in part to Cloutier's strong effort, Princeton finished first in the 16-team tournament, 19 shots ahead of second-place Yale.

The individual title was the first of Cloutier's college career and it came in only her second tournament. For her accomplishment, Cloutier has been named The Daily Princetonian Athlete of the Week.
