Students accused of dorm assault

Editor's Note: The Daily Princetonian has redacted the names of the two individuals involved in this incident -- at their request and at the newspaper's discretion -- after they provided documentation that their cases were expunged. Their names are no longer in the public record.

Two seniors allegedly entered the unlocked room of Jessica Brondo '04 early Saturday morning and assaulted her visiting boyfriend, Luis Fugazy, police said.

Brondo said she thought the incident may have stemmed from an earlier disagreement at a sorority formal at a North Brunswick restaurant.

"I spilled a drink on [redacted], and he and Luis started arguing," Brondo said. "Everything was so loud and confusing that I didn't really hear what they were saying, but I guess it was because I spilled a drink on him because I don't really know of any other reason."

According to Lt. John Reading of Borough Police, [redacted] said "good shot" to Brondo after she spilled the drink and Fugazy took offense.

Fugazy and [redacted] wrestled on the dance floor and [redacted] tried to pull the fight apart, Brondo said.

The argument continued later in the evening back on campus when [redacted] and [redacted] entered Brondo's room, struck Fugazy with "closed fists about the head and face" and threw Brondo to the floor, police reports said.

[redacted] and [redacted] turned themselves in to Borough Police later that morning, Reading said.

Fugazy and [redacted] declined to comment.

[redacted] and [redacted] have been charged with burglary, criminal mischief, harassment and simple assault, police reports said.

They were preliminarily held in police custody on $3,500 bail, but the fine was later rescinded and the two were released on their own recognizance, Reading said.

The assailants also knocked into and broke a table, lamp and several champagne glasses and destroyed a painting, Brondo alleged.

No one was treated for injury, Reading said. Brondo claimed Fugazy suffered a bruised jaw and nose and bloodshot eyes.

After the incident, Brondo called University Public Safety, who notified Borough Police. [Redacted] turned himself in to University Public Safety at 3 a.m. and [redacted] turned himself in to Borough Police at 11:30 a.m., Reading said.

The two are due in court April 14, according to the press release.
