Athlete of the Week

It seems to be a recent matter of fact here at Princeton that the coming of spring is always met by the success of the men's lacrosse team. Whether the Tigers' wins bring the heat — or the heat brings the wins — is up to the reader. The two are closely linked, like the chicken and the egg.

Senior attack Sean Hartofilis heated up like a branding iron last week amidst the midsummer humidity of late March. The Huntington, N.Y. native unleashed the fury locked inside him during the off-season and which lay nascent in the early games of the season and exploded with 11 goals in two games.

The senior was merciless in his career-high six-goal effort against Rutgers March 25, a game which the Tigers nearly lost, 10-8. His two goals in twelve seconds in the early stages of the fourth quarter gave Princeton the lead.

Four days later, in the team's Ivy League opener, Hartofilis showed why he's arguably one of college lacrosse's greatest scorers, scoring five goals.

The senior now has a team-leading 21 goals on the season.

For his efforts, the 'Prince' awards him this week's Athlete of the Week.
