Tiger Foods introduces two new delivery options

In an effort to expand campus dining options, Tiger Foods added Moondoggie Café and Victor's Pizzeria to its list of restaurants and began deliveries last night for both establishments.

Dave Madden '03, manager of Tiger Foods, said the student run food delivery service had been interested in finding an Italian restaurant for the past few years.

"We approached Victor's a while ago and Moondoggie Café approached us," Madden said. "Moondoggie Café gave me a call about two weeks ago. I went and spoke with the owner, and we were able to work out a great deal."

Though campus business for Victor's Pizzeria was slow last night, owner Flavio Buono said he anticipates an increase once the Princeton Advertising Agency distributes menus throughout campus.

"I really like that [our addition to Tiger Foods] will let the students know a little bit more about ourselves," Buono said. "I've met people that said it took them four years to know that we were here."

In contrast to the Italian food that Victor's Pizzeria offers, Moondoggie Café delivers a California-style vegetarian cuisine.

Previously, Moondoggie offered in-house delivery to campus locations, but was unable to keep pace with the volume of delivery orders, said Moondoggie owner Mike Agrawal, prompting the negotiations.

"[Tiger Foods] looked at our food and they liked our product," Agrawal said. "They found that it wasn't in competition with their other product lines."

As is customary for Tiger Foods, there will be a surcharge of $1.50 for each order, but, despite Tiger Food claiming its usual surcharge, Moondoggie's prices will remain at the levels quoted inside the store.

"The great thing with Moondoggie was that Mike, the owner, offered to let us deliver the food at the in-store prices," said Madden. "They were really enthusiastic about working with us."

Moondoggie will be slimming its profit margins to maintain low prices.

Madden also approached all the current restaurants about reducing prices. Kalluri Corner responded to his inquiries by dropping prices on average between 20 and 30 percent across the board. They now offer prices at near in-store levels. Tiger Noodles also dropped its price levels, Madden added.

Tiger Foods also plans to revamp its website and expand operations to include lunch and delivery to the graduate college.

The new Tiger Foods menu, including the Moondoggie Café and Victor's Pizzeria additions, will be available to all rooms by the end of the week, Madden said.
