Police charge Cap president

Princeton Borough Police charged Cap and Gown Club President Matthew Groh '03 with serving alcohol to a minor early Sunday morning.

The charge was filed after Public Safety was called to the club to assist an intoxicated 19-year-old female student who required hospitalization.

A club officer called Public Safety around midnight on Saturday, met proctors in front of the club and guided them to the student, said Barry Weiser, crime prevention specialist for Public Safety.

Public Safety dispatched emergency medical response through the borough police. The intoxicated student was taken to PMC and then transferred to McCosh Health Center, Weiser said.

A Borough Police officer then charged Groh with serving alcohol to a minor, said Borough Police Lt. John Reading. Groh may also be charged with maintaining a nuisance, Reading said.

Groh said yesterday he did not have a statement regarding the charges.

He is the fifth club officer and third club president since last week charged with serving alcohol to minors or related charges.
