A new online registration program, Student Course Online Registration Engine, became available to undergraduate and graduate students Monday. The program allows all students to change both home and campus addresses, phone numbers and other contact information year-round. Additionally, graduate students will be able to register for the academic year using the system.
"A lot of people have used [the program], and I've heard it works well now," said Kai Chan GS, an assistant master of Forbes College.
Students can now log onto the program using their use name and e-mail passwords.
"The implementation of a new student system began in 1999 and was part of a more general effort to upgrade administrative applications at Princeton," said Registrar Joseph Greenberg.
Other universities using the same software include Stanford and Northwestern. SCORE is part of a software package produced by PeopleSoft Inc.
Last fall, the registrar's office implemented an electronic system to facilitate the course selection process. The system has since been modified to allow students to enroll online.
Online registration for spring courses on SCORE will begin in November. Instead of turning in course enrollment sheets at the registrar, students will be able to maintain their own schedules, as well as add and drop courses through the program.
Deadlines for changing courses will remain the same during web enrollment.
However, students will only be able to use the SCORE system for making changes during the initial add/drop period. Students will still be required to make late changes in person, Greenberg said.
