University professor Norman Augustine GS '59 will receive the Space Foundation's highest individual award on April 11.
The General James E. Hill Lifetime Space Achievement Award will be presented at the National Space Symposium, a forum assembling military, industry and government space experts.
Augustine is a University professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering and chairman emeritus of Lockheed Martin. He received his B.S.E. and M.S.E. in mechanical and aerospace engineering at the University.
The Lockheed Martin Corporation is an aeronautical company that produces aircraft and weapons. Before becoming chairman, Augustine served as the company's president and CEO.According to a Space Foundation press release, Augustine is being honored with the award "for his lifetime commitment to education, aerospace engineering and the future of the industry and nation, and for his stellar accomplishments at Lockheed Martin."
