A female University student traveling on Washington Road was struck by a vehicle and sustained minor injuries yesterday morning, Borough Police Capt. Anthony Federico said.
The student was traveling northbound on the west sidewalk of Washington Road near Prospect Avenue when a black Lincoln Continental jumped the curb, striking the student's knee, Federico said.
The vehicle was attempting to pass another car turning left onto Prospect Avenue, moving around it to the right. The vehicle then jumped the curb, struck the student and proceeded on, Federico said.
West Windsor and Princeton Township police joined Borough Police in searching the local area, but were unable to locate a vehicle matching the given description, Federico said. Borough Police is continuing the investigation.
The student sustained a slight abrasion on her knee and a chipped tooth as a result of the incident.
A first aid squad responded to the incident and the student was taken to McCosh Health Center for treatment Public Safety Crime Prevention Specialist Barry Weiser said. She was released yesterday.
