Women's soccer to face Loyola

The women's soccer team (13-2-2 overall, 5-1-1 Ivy League), coming off the program's best season in its 20-year history, will enter the NCAA tournament on Friday, hosting unranked Loyola-Maryland (9-8-2).

Loyola earned its first-ever bid to NCAA Tournament with 1-0 victory over Marist last Sunday in the championship of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Greyhounds received an automatic bid to the tournament by virtue of the conference title. Loyola and Princeton have not met this year.

If the Tigers advance past this initial match to the second round game at Lourie-Love field Sunday, they would meet the winner of the Friday match between Rutgers (12-7-1) and Boston University (14-5-1). The Tigers defeated unranked Rutgers, 2-1, Oct. 2, on the game winner scored by Princeton's senior midfielder Liz Patrick with just five minutes remaining in regulation. If able to reach the third round, the Tigers will most likely square off against No. 1-ranked North Carolina, a game that would be played at North Carolina either Nov. 23, 24 or 25. Princeton has never gone past the first round of the tournament.
