University officials announced Monday that the white powdery substance found a week ago on a keyboard in the Frist Campus Center has tested negative for the presence of anthrax. These negative results followed an announcement Friday in which the administration told the community that state officials considered the chance of a positive test result to be "essentially zero."
Lauren Robinson-Brown '85, the University's Director of Communications, said "we were expecting a negative result, and we're pleased that we got one. We continue to take every reporting seriously. We encourage everyone on campus to review the guidelines for suspicious mail and letters . . . obviously, even if students are home, if they or anyone else develops flu-like symptoms, they should not hesitate to seek medical attention."
